Our work depends on a VMware Engineer joining our team to support Government activities in Sterling, VA or Annapolis Junction, MD. At GDIT, we foster a people-focused and customer-centric environment in delivering Desktop Engineering Services.  As a VMware Engineer supporting the Government, you will be responsible for physical/virtual platforms, server build deployments, server virtualization, hyperconverged platforms, etc. In this role, a typical day will include: Thorough knowledge of hardware, software, and system architecture is required for this role. Designs, implements, and maintains VMware vSphere cloud foundation infrastructure. Evaluate existing network infrastructure and systems to determine business needs. Develop and deploy customized VMware solutions for various platforms. Make informed design decisions and gather all relevant requirements. Produce comprehensive white papers that critically assess recent technological advancements and articulate how these innovations address customer needs and objectives in practical applications. Oversee technology projects by managing both technical and administrative components. Collaborate with the Information System Security Officer (ISSO) to secure an Authority to Operate (ATO). Develop plans to ensure systems fulfill specified requirements. Apply core concepts and methodologies to design effective systems. Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, VCF, Oracle or Google Cloud is beneficial. Communicate clearly and collaborate effectively with stakeholders and leaders. Demonstrate strong analytical skills by evaluating complex issues and identifying solutions. Incorporate new plans, designs, and systems into ongoing operations. Develop system architecture and system design documentation.

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI clearance and ability to obtain and maintain a CI poly
  • Must meet DoD 8570 IAT Level II requirements including one of the following: Security+ CE, CND, SSCP, GSEC, GICSP, CySA+, or CCNA Security
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related technical discipline + 6 years’ experience or the equivalent combination of education, technical certification or training, or work/military experience
  • Strong knowledge of virtualization technologies such as VMware, Hyper-V, or KVM
  • Proficiency in configuring and optimizing virtual machines, storage, and networking
  • Knowledge with configuration of virtual switches and VLANs
  • VMware Certified Professional certification required
  • Ability to learn new virtualization technologies
