About The Position

To create a flexible program and an environment favorable to learning and personal growth for students; to motivate each student to develop skills, knowledge, and attitudes in accordance with ability; to develop the student's special talents; to develop sound opinions based on facts; and to develop proficiency in inquiry skills and concepts.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in special education from an accredited college or university.
• New Mexico Public Education Department Licensure in Special Education.

Responsibilities

• Follow local, state and federal law and adhere to Public Education Department and Local School Board Policy.
• Maintain confidentiality of student information.
• Develop instructional plans and organize class time to provide a balanced program of instruction for students with disabilities.
• Evaluate and maintain an accurate written record of each students' performance, growth skills and knowledge.
• Assist in the development of Individualized Education Programs to meet individual student's needs.
• Confer, as needed, with parents to discuss the individual student's progress.
• Plan and supervise purposeful assignments for teacher aides, when appropriate.
• Perform other relevant tasks as assigned.
