About The Position

As a VMG Social Worker, you will play a key role in delivering comprehensive care by conducting psychosocial assessments and providing focused, solution-driven interventions to address the social, emotional, and environmental challenges impacting patients and their families. Your work will ensure they can fully benefit from the care provided. Collaborating closely with interdisciplinary teams, you will support patient care management goals and contribute to system-level improvements. In this role, you will serve as a representative of the Addiction Psychiatry department on institutional and community committees or task forces, offering your expertise and leadership to advance departmental initiatives. You will also actively participate in departmental committees and workgroups, driving meaningful progress within the team. Additionally, your expertise in identifying population-specific needs will allow you to make valuable contributions to patient care plans, ensuring psychosocial factors are thoughtfully integrated for optimal outcomes.

Requirements

  • TN-Licensed Clinical Social Worker
  • Ability to supervise LMSW, LCSW, CRPS, and Nurse Case Manager
  • 3 years of relevant experience in substance use and/or behavioral health treatment
  • Experience with individual and group therapy facilitation, as well as crisis intervention
  • Strong ability to multitask and critically analyze organizational and clinical needs
  • Strong customer service, professional, and organization skills
  • Competency of electronic programs including, but not limited to, Excel, Project Management tools, EMR’s, and Microsoft Office

Responsibilities

  • Leading the audit process for TennCare HMO’s (WellCare, Amerigroup, and United Health), with the assistance of the Associate Deputy Director
  • Overseeing the coordination of multi-disciplinary teams in an enterprise wide strategic and operational initiative
  • Supervising SOR programming tasks completed by the Administrative Director
  • Demonstrating commitment to a clinical role by having a proportion of FTE dedicated to direct clinical work
  • Providing direct and indirect supervision to program staff- including Social Workers, Certified Peer Recovery Specialists, and a Nurse Case Manager
  • Overseeing day to day operations of outpatient Addiction Psychiatry teaching clinics and Bridge Clinic
  • Managing caseload distribution to include therapy cases, SOR Social Work assignments, and balancing out daily appointment volume across program staff
  • Participating in all treatment team meetings as it relates to VISTA services- including Bridge Clinic and VRC huddles, as well as any urgent meetings regarding a patient’s care
  • Working alongside the Assistant Deputy Director to provide support to community partners through screening and scheduling of appropriate referrals
  • Collaborating with department leadership to strategize, implement, and improve programs within the Division of Addiction Psychiatry
  • Assessing and resolving clinical care issues as they arise, including but not limited to, providing crisis intervention in the clinical space, responding to patient care concerns, and partnering with other leaders to resolve any barriers to service delivery as they arise
  • Educating staff on any changes to policy or procedures related to clinical workflows, as well as monitors implementation of such changes
  • Identifying, evaluating, and implementing strategies to improve programming, costs, and distribution of personnel
  • Coordinating interviewing, hiring, and onboarding of new employees alongside the team’s HR representative and recruiter
  • Managing optimal use of Epic and TNWITS by ensuring all staff are trained, and by anticipating and solving necessary workflow changes
  • Collaborating with appropriate personnel to ensure all elements of the job role are fulfilled adequately and efficiently
  • Maintains professional documentation which meets department and VUMC standards as it relates to compliance.
  • Provides brief targeted interventions for identified clients.
  • Completes psychosocial assessment and assists team with the development of the plan of care.
  • Provides education and or consultation to clients and families, treatment team and community.
  • Contributes to the organization by actively participating in process improvement initiatives and shared decision making.
