About the position

The position is responsible for becoming a subject matter expert on the Medicare Hospice Benefit, VITAS service offerings, disease-specific clinical criteria, and evidence-based medicine. The individual will be accountable for set goals and results, focusing on providing solutions and executing them effectively. The role involves analyzing territory and developing call routing to establish correct targets, reach, and frequency for maximal territory growth. The candidate will develop sales messaging and strategies that align with customer needs to ensure hospice-appropriate patients gain access to hospice services. Maintaining professional and technical knowledge is crucial, which includes reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and staying current with changes in the healthcare field. The position requires leveraging provided resources and technology for success, utilizing a CRM tool daily to capture customer needs and strategies for continued hospice utilization, and synchronizing updates regularly. Effective communication, maintaining professional relationships, and collaborating with internal clinical end-of-life care teams are essential. The candidate will resolve customer feedback by investigating opportunities for development, preparing reports, and collaborating on resolutions with program management. The role also involves applying training and leveraging tools and resources with a strong sense of urgency, being open to coaching feedback, and completing administrative duties timely. The position requires working cohesively with VITAS internal customers and attending team meetings regularly.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years sales experience or in healthcare services preferred.
  • Experience in a competitive team environment with individual accountability.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and solution creation.
  • Past military service is a plus.
  • Experience with volunteer organizations is a plus.
  • Hospice experience preferred but not required.
  • Evidence of achieving sales goals and exceeding corporate goals.
  • Strong customer service, sense of urgency, and problem-solving skills.
  • Time management and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge and application of a need satisfaction selling process.
  • Ability to manage a territory and conduct sales calls.
  • Strong interpersonal skills across all organizational levels.

  • Ability to work outside of normal business hours as needed.
