The Visual Merchandising Assistant will collaborate with the Sr. Director and Manager, Visual Merchandising to assist in the develop and execution of seasonal presentations consistent with the Brand. The Visual Merchandising Assistant will ensure that the Brand storytelling and key investments are represented in all the visual guideline documents that are sent to all stores monthly. This role will support with layouts, windows, sample management and VMG document support. The impact you can have Supports the development of store layouts for visual merchandising based on seasonal fashion trends and work with the Sr. Director and Manager to develop and evolve concepts for visual presentation and visual display Set an example of excitement, enthusiasm and knowledge toward Talbot’s product and demonstrate a clear understanding of the Talbots Brand Create monthly store set direction through merchandising techniques, fixture, and product placement Identify sales opportunities based on merchandise sell-through and supply chain deliveries Work with Manager and Sr. Manager to develop changes or additions to visual presentation standards through Visual Publications Partner with cross-functional teams (Merchandising, Marketing, Stores) to coordinate sample need/timing. Execute “back-end work” for VMG publications. Support the visual merchandising team with other tasks as needed, such as new store setups.

Requirements

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred in Merchandising, Marketing, Design, a related field or 1 to 3 years equivalent related experience
  • Requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Requires the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Travel to the field when appropriate
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to follow direction and timelines.
  • An eye for fashion and trend, paired with sound business judgment.
  • Must be comfortable working hands-on with product, mannequins, props, and fixtures in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to walk and stand for extended periods of time; lift up to 50 lbs. on occasion; and reach and bend frequently throughout the day.
