About The Position

The Idaho State University Office of Marketing and Communications seeks a motivated and creative individual to enhance visual storytelling by creating video and photo assets for use across all University platforms. Building on the existing voice, look and feel of University videography and photography, the Visual Media Specialist will strategically plan and create video and photo assets for marketing, recruitment, fundraising, internal/external communications, and other projects for the University. This position is not eligible for new visa sponsorship at this time. Candidates who already hold valid U.S. work authorization may be considered.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in photography, video production, visual media, visual arts, communications or other relevant degree OR six years relevant professional experience specializing in video production and photography.
  • At least two (2) years of professional experience in video production and photography, including demonstrated proficiency with video and photo editing software such as Adobe Premier, After Effects, Photoshop, Lightroom, Media Encoder, Animation, Motion Graphics, etc.
  • The successful candidate will be required to obtain certification and sufficient training to operate unmanned aerial vehicles to capture photo and video within six (6) months of hire date, costs will be paid by ISU.

Nice To Haves

  • At least five (5) years of professional experience in video production and photography.
  • At least five (5) years of professional experience utilizing video and photo editing software such as Adobe Premier, After Effects, Photoshop, Lightroom, Media Encoder, Animation, Motion Graphics, etc.
  • Experience coding scripts or using automation techniques within photo and video editing software to complete large tasks.
  • At least one (1) year experience and certification in operating unmanned aerial vehicles to capture photo and video.

Responsibilities

  • This position requires expert level skills in videography, photography, photo/video editing, and project management.
  • Utilize videography and photography to capture unique student, faculty and staff stories and activities, campus and landscape scenes, University events, presidential initiatives, research activities, some athletic events, etc.
  • The successful candidate will be required to obtain certification and sufficient training to operate unmanned aerial vehicles to capture photo and video within six (6) months of hire date, costs will be paid by ISU.
  • Project management for pre and post-production activities, including script development, storyboarding, shot lists, directing, shooting, editing, and packaging deliverables to ensure final products are high-quality and strongly represent the University.
  • Co-manage photo and video studio to include portrait photography for employee headshots.
  • Responsible for workflow procedures to ensure timely and quality production of deliverables.
  • Coordinate with team members to support multimedia video and photo production across internal and external channels, including events, executive communication, press materials, digital properties, social channels and interactive websites.
  • Conduct professional consultations with University clients to determine goals and offer solutions for their visual communication needs that align with University strategic objectives, brand and voice.
  • Co-manage a digital asset archive to include a public photo archive available for members of the media and ISU employees, along with maintaining shared internal asset storage solutions for all projects.
  • Cooperates as an active partner with team members in the Office of Marketing and Communications and with marketing professionals embedded in units throughout the University.
  • Serves as a member of the Strategic Marketing Team and other committees as appropriate.
  • Track trends and consider innovative approaches to produce the best work possible for the client’s and University’s needs.
  • This position frequently requires attendance at evening and/or weekend events and occasional travel to University outreach campuses or University events held off campus.
