About The Position

American Giant is a premium American-made apparel brand on a mission to bring manufacturing home, build the highest-quality basics, and create jobs across the United States. We are a digitally native, direct-to-consumer business experiencing rapid growth while staying true to our values of quality, transparency, and American craftsmanship. We are seeking a visionary Visual Director to lead our in-house visual content strategy and elevate our brand storytelling through photography and videography. As Visual Director, you will own the end-to-end creative direction and production of all visual content for American Giant. You will re-establish and evolve our visual approach to ensure it authentically reflects our brand values: quality, durability, simplicity, and American heritage. This role combines strategic leadership with hands-on execution, overseeing a small team to deliver high-impact assets that drive engagement across e-commerce, marketing campaigns, social channels, and beyond. You will manage all content creation within allocated budgets and timelines, fostering a consistent, elevated visual identity that resonates with our customers.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Vision & Brand Alignment Develop and implement a refreshed visual strategy and guidelines for photography, videography, and social content, ensuring full consistency with American Giant’s brand ethos (timeless, durable, authentic American style). Deliverable: Annual visual roadmap and updated brand visual guidelines document.
  • Content Creation & Leadership Direct all photo and video shoots, including concepting, casting, location scouting, styling, lighting and post-production oversight. Produce high-quality assets for product launches, seasonal campaigns, website, email, paid ads and organic social media. Act as lead photographer wherever possible. Deliverable: Seasonal content calendar: monthly product launches and twice a year seasonal campaign shoots with 40+ optimized images/videos per major campaign that include seasonal lookbooks and hero assets.
  • Team Management Lead and mentor two direct reports (Producer and Photo Coordinator), providing guidance on execution, feedback and professional development. Collaborate cross-functionally with broader marketing and product teams to align visual with business goals. Deliverable: High-performing team with clear goals, regular check-ins, performance reviews and streamlined workflows.
  • Production & Budget Management Oversee planning, scheduling, and execution of shoots to meet deadlines. Manage vendors (photographers, videographers, stylists, models) as needed. Track and adhere to departmental budgets for production, equipment, and talent. Deliverables: On-time, on-budget delivery of all visual assets; quarterly budget reports and forecasts.
