About The Position

A bit about this role: Devoted Health is looking for a senior Visual Designer to lead the evolution of our visual identity and digital design system. This is a 3–4 month contract engagement embedded with our internal team. This isn't a rebrand from scratch — it's a deliberate evolution of an existing brand to match the maturity and scale of what Devoted has become. You'll audit what we have, recommend what to preserve and what to refine, and design a cohesive, digital-first visual system that works across our public website, member portal, and print materials. You'll work alongside a front-end engineer who will implement the system in code. The work must resonate with our primary audience — Medicare beneficiaries aged 65+ — while also communicating credibility to partners, talent, and the broader healthcare ecosystem.

Requirements

  • 8+ years in visual/brand design with a portfolio showing brand evolution, digital design systems, and component library work
  • Expert Figma proficiency including design tokens, component architecture, and engineering handoff documentation
  • Experience designing modular, scalable visual systems across large, live product ecosystems
  • Deep understanding of accessible design (WCAG 2.1 AA+), ideally for older adult populations
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional stakeholders and articulate clear rationale for visual decisions
  • Healthcare or regulated industry experience strongly preferred

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with headless CMS environments (Prismic, Contentful, or similar)
  • Background in Medicare or insurance design
  • Experience with design system governance or phased rollout planning

Responsibilities

  • Audit Devoted's current visual brand (color, typography, iconography, imagery, overall visual personality) and provide a clear assessment of what to preserve, refine, or replace
  • Design an evolved visual identity that conveys trust, warmth, clarity, and credibility in a healthcare context
  • Create a modular, scalable, digital-first design system — foundations, design tokens, component-level guidance, and rules for theming and extensibility
  • Apply the system to representative touchpoints — public website templates and member portal screens — to validate coherence and flexibility
  • Design to WCAG 2.1 AA+ standards with strong attention to the needs of a 65+ population (larger type defaults, high contrast, simplified layouts, clear hierarchy)
  • Deliver comprehensive documentation (brand guidelines, usage rules, context-specific examples) suitable for designers, engineers, and marketing teams
  • Provide implementation guidance compatible with our Prismic-based website architecture and React/Storybook for the member portal
  • Derive print template guidance (welcome kits, benefit summaries, ID cards, direct mail) from the digital-first system
