The Visual Communications Management Coordinator is responsible for shaping and maintaining the City's visual identity across all communications channels, ensuring consistency in brand elements such as logos, colors, typography, and graphic standards. This role involves designing brand elements, developing policies and guidelines for visual communications, collaborating with internal teams and external vendors, and ensuring compliance with accessibility standards.

  • Manage and strengthen the visual identity of the City in digital and print formats.
  • Create and oversee design and brand elements to ensure consistency of the City's identity.
  • Administer the implementation of communication objectives related to enterprise visual identity.
  • Review, recommend, approve and guide work by graphic design vendors and City staff ensuring their work aligns with City brand standards.
  • Serve as the point of contact for enterprise-level visual communications decisions.
  • Work closely with the social media manager to ensure graphics support overall campaign objectives.
  • Create engaging graphics and content for social media, email newsletters, websites and other digital platforms.
  • Ensure that City visual communications meet accessibility requirements for people with disabilities and ADA compliance.
  • Create policy, process, and procedures as they relate to visual communications.
  • Educate staff on policies, process, procedures, design best practices and provide individual coaching where necessary.
  • Manage compliance of the City's branding identity regarding enterprise mass email communications.
  • Track requests, progress and performance of created content and make data-driven recommendations for improvement.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Communications or equivalent with training in visual identity branding.
  • Three years of related experience in a related professional position.
  • Proficiency in graphic design software (e.g. Adobe suite, Canva and mass email communication).
  • Knowledge of brand identity, with experience in public entities such as cities, counties, and special public agencies.
  • Ability to review projects and articulate compliance with standards, and creatively solve problems.
  • Knowledge of and ability to manage print jobs, including working and coordinating with printers, press checks, and vendor selection.
  • Communication skills and the ability to tactfully deal with people regarding their ideas and the visual identity of the City.
  • Ability to think strategically and work effectively across different mediums.
  • Considerable knowledge of design, visual identity, branding, and digital media, including current trends.
  • Flexible work arrangements, including hybrid work with some days working remotely and some days working in the office.
