About The Position

The Sanneh Foundation (TSF) is a 501(c)(3) serving the various needs of Minnesota's low-income youth and their families. The Sanneh VISTA Leader will increase the organization’s capacity to support the service of VISTA members and Summer Associates in their seasonal and year-round projects. The VISTA member would support members in navigating these projects successfully by providing peer support and refining current developing systems and processes to improve cohort structure and overall program quality. This role involves providing peer support to VISTA members to help them meet both personal development and project-specific goals, supporting the ongoing recruitment of VISTA Members, supporting further development, and facilitating cohort trainings to build an internal culture and equip members with skills required for the changing workplace. Additionally, the VISTA Lead will refine current developing systems and processes to improve VISTA program participation, recruitment, and long-term sustainability.

Requirements

  • 18 years of age (no upper limit)
  • Pass a national service criminal history check
  • Hold one of the following citizenship statuses: U.S. citizen, U.S. National, Lawful Permanent Resident Aliens and persons residing in a state that have the following legal residency classifications: Refugee, asylum or asylee, temporary protected status, or deferred action for childhood arrivals (DACA) status.

Responsibilities

  • Review the sustainability materials of the prior and current VISTA Leader.
  • Review VISTA projects and VADs of all current and incoming members to understand their specific capacity-building targets.
  • Shadow and learn the current schedule for 1:1 peer mentoring, supervisor check-ins, and strategies in supporting members with identifying personalized professional development goals.
  • Learn processes for current piloted data collection methods for impact tracking, further support data collection requirements for the VISTA program.
  • Coordinate and document organizational goals and objectives for the cohort in collaboration with the Project Supervisor.
  • Research best practices for crafting individualized professional development resources for peer cohort models and further identify professional development opportunities and resources to learn more about growth in role.
  • Review VISTA projects and VADs of current and incoming members during shared terms of service.
  • Assess summer cohort training needs and support the coordination and facilitation of professional development sessions focused on topics such as project management, resource development, and data evaluation.
  • Review, refine and improve program planning for building cohort identity and a shared sense of purpose among summer and full-time members.
  • Identify and secure external resources or guest speakers to support the success of monthly professional development sessions.
  • Support the recruitment and screening of new VISTA members and summer associates in establishing internal tracking systems for applications.
  • Review and improve systems for data collection (such as demographic outputs) and capturing qualitative success stories for quarterly reporting.
  • Plan and facilitate a VISTA cohort year-end celebration event, conduct exit interviews with VISTA members to close loop on engagement documentation.
  • Administer VISTA member development reports, analyze the data, and report results to leadership to inform future program improvements.
  • Update the current comprehensive handbook of materials and document all systems, processes, and practices to ensure the sustainability of the role.
