About The Position

The Visitor Services Associate supports daily park operations by providing excellent customer service, handling guest inquiries, and assisting with front desk, facility, and administrative functions. The role serves as a primary point of contact for park visitors, vendors, volunteers, and program leaders, while also performing cashiering duties, managing reservations, monitoring facility cleanliness, and supporting general park operations. This role reports to and works under the daily direction of the Operations Manager, with assistance from the Caretaking & Cleaning Supervisor.

Requirements

  • High school graduation or equivalent and one year customer service experience preferred
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Proficiency with PC-based email platforms (e.g., Outlook)
  • Valid Texas driver’s license
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse groups and personalities
  • Proven ability to show up on time and work well without direct supervision
  • Ability to communicate with the public in a tactful and pleasant way
  • Ability to occasionally work evenings or weekends
  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Able to perform physically demanding work, including:
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
  • All employees share responsibility for maintaining a safe work environment. Staff must follow all safety procedures, use proper personal protective equipment (PPE), and immediately report any hazards, unsafe practices, or injuries to supervisors.

Responsibilities

  • Answer general questions about the park and facilities, including fielding questions for other staff members appropriately
  • Answers main phone line and when necessary, forward calls to appropriate staff member
  • Serves as cashier for a variety of transactions including concessions, merchandise, rentals/reservations, and park memberships
  • Monitor sales inventory and process purchases for visitors
  • Assists with facility and park reservations, including entering information into reservation management software system
  • Opens and/or closes the building, following MPC protocol for security and cleanliness
  • Monitors cleanliness of restrooms and facility
  • Oversees Park Lost and Found
  • Keeps common areas tidy and visually appealing by maintain cleanliness of shared office and storage areas
  • Sets up program or meeting space and signage as determined by Visitor Services Supervisor
  • Checks in vendors, volunteers, public program leaders, and group fitness instructors; answers questions and troubleshoots as needed
  • Acts as main point of contact for vendors with questions
  • May assist operations staff with light administrative support duties such as setting meetings, ordering uniforms, and entering data
  • Report maintenance issues or hazards using internal work order software
  • Engage with park visitors in a courteous and professional manner, sharing accurate information about Memorial Park and MPC
  • Follow all MPC safety protocols and wear required PPE
  • Assist with general park operations tasks such as trash and debris removal
