About The Position

The primary duty of this position is to enhance the experience of visitors through courteous, friendly service and information throughout the Gardens. Individuals in this position will exhibit a high level of coordination of operations in guest services, ticket sales and cash handling. This position works weekdays and/or weekends as well as holidays and after-hour events/meetings. Essential Job Functions Provide excellent customer service to Bok Tower Gardens’ daily visitors. Greet visitors in a courteous and professional manner and respond to questions/needs promptly. Handle all transactional activities for visitors at the Gate and Information Desk including membership, admission, ticketing using BTG software. Assist with events. Responsibilities also include answering phone Provide administrative support, manage and run reports. In addition to the above, this position will provide support in one (1) of the areas identified below: EL Retiro Conduct informative, enthusiastic and accurate tours of the collection and exhibits. Provide accurate information about El Retiro including, but not limited to, history, hours of operation, events and programs, directions, exhibits and general policies with enthusiasm and positivity. Provide courteous and professional crowd control as needed. Provide assistance as needed at El Retiro special events and unique tour scenarios. Assist in a variety of staff operations, performing special projects and additional assignments as requested. Strive to build positive relationships with guests to promote repeat visitations. Hammock Hollow Set out learning materials in specific garden locations before the guests arrive Keep supplies stocked throughout shift Tidy play areas tidy and remove any safety hazards Greet guests warmly and enthusiastically; offer a friendly face for all children who wish to engage with you Be observant of unsafe risk-taking, offering other options Model gentle care, interest and wonder for nature School Field Trips Review and understand standards and curriculum prior to facilitating the program Help set out learning materials in specific garden locations before the students arrive Greet students warmly and enthusiastically Set a positive and fun tone for the program Foster respect for all individuals and their views Facilitate each activity with the standards in mind, but be flexible and open to student learning that happens spontaneously and/or goes beyond the standards Model gentle care, interest and wonder for nature Encourage students to experience the gardens with their senses while respecting nature

Requirements

  • HS Diploma/GED
  • Previous guest experience and customer service experience dealing with a high volume of visitor/public contact.
  • Excellent human relations skills to deal effectively with visitors/public in person or on the telephone preferred.
  • Ability to multi-task and stay abreast of and articulate current offerings
  • Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team, effectively.
  • Ability to interact and work harmoniously with a diverse staff and volunteers
  • Organized and detail oriented.
  • Continual communication with staff, volunteers, visitors, and management
  • Occasional bending, stooping, reaching, crouching, or light lifting (up to 30 lbs.)
  • Continual or Prolonged periods of time standing and periodic walking through the Gardens
  • Ability to work outside in Florida weather year-round 5-10 hr. shifts or longer for special events

Nice To Haves

  • Previous money handling experience a plus.
