The Graduate Program in Energy Systems Management at the University of San Francisco invites applications for a full-time Visiting Assistant Professor position to begin Fall 2026. We are looking for an interdisciplinary energy scholar with specialized skills in one or more of the following areas: energy science and technology, energy modeling and data science, and electric utility economics, regulation, and policy. Applied experience in the energy field is highly valued. ESM is an innovative, STEM-designated MS program focused on the clean energy transition. The two-year course of study prepares students for careers in energy through rigorous coursework that combines state-of-the-art professional skills with an interdisciplinary conceptual grounding. Classes are held in the evening at the USF downtown campus (101 Howard Street) and many of the approximately fifty students in ESM are employed while taking classes. Roughly one-half of the students have undergraduate degrees in science or engineering, and one in five are international, representing more than thirty different countries since the program’s inception in 2017, including multiple Fulbright scholars. Graduates of the program go on to work across the energy field in utilities, consulting firms, technology companies, government and regulatory agencies, and non-profit organizations. The program fosters a strong sense of comradery and shared mission among its students, alumni, faculty, and staff.
