About The Position

The Materials Research Institute (MRI) invites applications for a part-time Visiting Scholar position for an 8-week appointment. This is a part-time appointment limited to 8 weeks. The successful candidate will conduct research focused on the synthesis of layered clays, their compositing with polymers for environmental applications, and the characterization of the resulting composites. Characterization techniques include powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), infrared spectroscopy (IR), mechanical property testing, and chemical analyses. We seek a highly self-motivated researcher with demonstrated expertise in clay and polymer synthesis, a strong research record, and excellent written and oral communication skills.

Requirements

  • Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in environmental materials, polymer science, or a closely related field
  • Strong publication record in polymer-related research

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research focused on the synthesis of layered clays
