About The Position

The primary purpose of the Visiting Researcher Scholar position is to conduct experimental and bioinformatics research under the direction of the principal investigator. The visiting researcher will work in the Xia lab, whose focus is on the mechanisms and models of cancer development associated with mutations in tumor suppressors BRCA1, PALB2 and BRCA2. Incumbent will use mammalian cell culture and mouse models to understand the roles of DNA damage and oxidative stress in cancer development in Brca2 and Palb2 mutant mice and determine the histopathological and immunological characteristics of the tumors.

Responsibilities

  • Works under the direction of the principal investigator.
  • Carries out various experimental and bioinformatics studies to understand the mechanisms of cancer development in Brca2 and Palb2 mutant mice.
  • Must possess effective oral and written communication skills and ability to publish scientific research papers/articles and written reports and oral presentations of research experiments.
  • Understands and adheres to Rutgers’ compliance standards as they appear in RBHS’s Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.
  • Understands, demonstrates and models the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey core values.
