About The Position

The School of Fine Arts and Communication at Biola University invites applications for a full-time, Visiting Professor position in Acting to begin Fall 2026. We seek a dynamic theatre artist and educator with expertise in acting and at least one of the following areas: Musical Theatre, Movement, Voice, or Screen Acting. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching, artistic excellence, and integration of Christian faith and learning. The Theatre program, housed in the Conservatory of Music, is a vibrant and growing program rooted in a commitment to artistic excellence and Christ-centered education. The Conservatory presents a diverse range of performances, spanning from classical to contemporary works, and supports students in their academic, artistic, and spiritual development. Our mission is to cultivate artists who are imaginative, thoughtful, and equipped to make a lasting impact on culture through their craft.

Requirements

  • MFA in Acting or a related discipline; equivalent professional experience may be considered.
  • Demonstrated excellence in college-level teaching and/or professional practice.
  • Expertise in at least one of the following: Musical Theatre, Movement, Voice, or Screen Acting.
  • A record of professional engagement in theatre, film, or related media.
  • A commitment to integrating faith and discipline, and the ability to articulate a Christian worldview in the context of the performing arts.
  • Active involvement in a Christian community.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in developing connections with professional companies in the professional theatre and/or film industry.

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate courses in acting and at least one of the following: Musical Theatre, Movement, Voice, or Screen Acting.
  • Direct or mentor student productions as part of the department's production season.
  • Participate in curriculum development and departmental planning.
  • Mentor and advise students in academic and professional development.
  • Engage in scholarly, creative, or professional work related to theatre.
  • Serve on departmental (Theatre) committees.
