About The Position
Bastyr University, a private non-profit regionally accredited institution, invites applications for a Visiting Assistant or Associate Professor in the Department of Counseling and Health Psychology in the School of Natural Health Arts and Sciences at its Kenmore (15 miles North of Seattle), Washington campus and teaching clinic starting between Spring/Summer of 2026. Bastyr University offers scientifically informed graduate and undergraduate degrees that support whole person health and healing, including programs in naturopathic medicine, acupuncture and East Asian medicine, midwifery, nutrition, and exercise science The Department of Counseling and Health Psychology offers a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology. Duties: The Department of Counseling and Health Psychology seeks a Visiting Assistant or Associate Professor to join a psychology faculty dedicated to multidisciplinary and integrated approaches to whole person health in counseling psychology. The position is for one-year with the opportunity for a longer-term appointment. person chosen for this position will be a visiting faculty member with teaching and supervision responsibilities in our Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology program. In addition to teaching and clinical supervision, responsibilities will include scholarship, student mentorship, curriculum development, and involvement in departmental and university service activities.
Requirements
- Candidates must have a doctorate in Counseling or Clinical Psychology and license eligibility in the State of Washington, or commensurate education and experience (e.g. Counselor Education).
- A demonstrated commitment to teamwork, diversity and social justice, alongside a passion for student-centered teaching are required.
- Area of professional expertise is open, but the successful candidate must be enthusiastic about teaching a variety of topics within a flexible generalist framework.
Nice To Haves
- Experience working within interdisciplinary health care settings is highly desirable.
- Preference will be given to candidates licensed to provide supervision within their first year of hire.
- Preference will be given to candidates previously ranked as Assistant or Associate Professor at a regionally accredited institution.
