About The Position

The Indiana University Jacobs School of Music seeks a passionate and dynamic candidate for a one-year Visiting Lecturer position in the Music in General Studies department, beginning August 1, 2026 and ending May 31, 2027. This is a full-time, ten-month, tenure-ineligible position for a person with significant expertise in teaching popular music.

Responsibilities

  • Responsibilities include teaching three undergraduate courses in music each semester.
  • Successful candidates should demonstrate the ability to teach a broad spectrum of American popular music with emphasis on the Blues, rock, pop, current emerging styles, and iconic popular musicians.
  • The person in this position will be expected to cover many aspects of popular music history and develop courses in their specific area of interest that are appropriate for the non-major audience.
