About The Position

The Creative Writing Program at Indiana University-Bloomington invites applications for a two-year Visiting Lecturer to serve as the Creative Writing Pedagogy Director, beginning in the summer of 2025. We seek an individual with expertise in poetry, creative non-fiction, and fiction, who is committed to excellence in teaching. Previous college-level teaching and publishing experience are essential. The candidate will teach a 2/2 load; train first year MFA Associate Instructors; support second and third-year MFA and MFA/PhD Associate Instructors [AIs]; and help in teaching-related administration tasks in the Creative Writing Program. H1B sponsorship is not available for this position. The Creative Writing Pedagogy Director works closely with and reports to the Director of Creative Writing. The successful candidate will teach W554, the Creative Writing Pedagogy course, each fall for MFA AIs; the remaining three courses will be determined by the program's or department's needs. In conjunction with the Director of Creative Writing, the Creative Writing Pedagogy Director plans, designs, and facilitates the week-long August teaching orientation for incoming Creative Writing instructors. Other responsibilities for this position include: conducting classroom observations of all first-year instructors teaching W103; reviewing undergraduate student evaluations of W103, W203, and W280 courses and meeting with the MFA instructors to discuss their evaluations. The candidate will be provided $5,000 in research money over two years ($2,500 per year). IU's Creative Writing Program, which is housed in the English Department, is a highly ranked program with a national reputation.
