About The Position

Midwestern University offers a 3-year Small Animal Internal Medicine (SAIM) residency designed to provide comprehensive clinical training and prepare residents for ACVIM board certification and careers in specialty practice, academia, and research. The program is supported by ACVIM and ECVIM-CA faculty, with additional expertise in anesthesiology, cardiology, clinical and anatomic pathology, and surgery, and close collaboration with off-site specialists in oncology, neurology, critical care, and radiology. Residents actively participate in case management, clinical teaching, and scholarly activity. While no primary emergency duty is required, residents share back-up responsibilities. The program emphasizes diverse, in-depth clinical training and professional growth. Midwestern University is a private, not-for-profit organization that provides graduate and post-graduate education in the health sciences. The University has two campuses, one in Downers Grove, Illinois and the other in Glendale, Arizona. More than 6,000 full-time students are enrolled in graduate programs in osteopathic medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, physician assistant studies, physical therapy, occupational therapy, nurse anesthesia, cardiovascular perfusion, podiatry, optometry, clinical psychology, speech language pathology, biomedical sciences and veterinary medicine.
