About The Position

This is a full-time, nine-month, faculty position in the English Department. This position has the potential to be renewed annually. The teaching load is 24 credits per year (12 credits each semester). In addition to teaching, a Visiting Instructor in Composition is expected to serve on the composition subcommittee, and possibly teach concurrent enrollment classes.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree in Composition and Rhetoric or associated field.
  • Disciplinary knowledge in Composition and Rhetoric.
  • Experience teaching 100- and 200-level college Composition courses.
  • Demonstrated teaching excellence.
  • Demonstrated success working with a diverse student population.

Responsibilities

  • Teach 12 credits of COMP 100-level and/or COMP 200-level courses each semester.
  • Hold regular office hours.
  • Provide students with course materials and instruction both in-person and via Canvas.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with diverse communities.
  • Maintain knowledge and awareness of digital accessibility including the Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 508.
  • Produce and maintain digitally accessible materials in accordance with FLC standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
