About The Position

The School of Communication is seeking a 9-month, non-tenure earning, Visiting Instructor of Communication Studies. This position will report to the Director of the School of Communication. Position responsibilities in the School of Communication include teaching undergraduate courses, a load of four speech courses in fall 2026 and four speech courses in spring 2027, as assigned by the Department Director. This is a temporary appointment for a stated term or time-period on a full-time basis.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in the discipline or closely related field
  • Applicants should be prepared to provide the following required documents: Current curriculum vitae, Cover letter (The letter should discuss your experience teaching introductory speech courses, such as our SPC 2608-Fundamentals of Speech, and provide evidence of teaching effectiveness), Name, phone number, and email address of three professional references will be requested during the application review stage.
  • The selected candidate will be required to submit official transcripts (and, as applicable, U.S. degree equivalency evaluations) documenting the conferral of their qualifying academic credentials by the date of hire.
  • Applicants may be required to upload additional documents based on their responses to the Foreign Influence Review questions.
  • Passport (all pages including blank pages) and Form DS-160 (if ever submitted. If not, upload an explanation)

  • Expected to demonstrate effectiveness in teaching (which include face-to-face courses and online course offerings as well as curriculum improvement initiatives).
