About The Position

The Visiting Extension Outreach Associate, Agriculture and Agribusiness at the University of Illinois Extension is a full-time, 12-month academic professional role focused on developing, delivering, and evaluating educational programs related to regenerative agriculture and biodiversity. This position aims to enhance agricultural stewardship and promote climate-smart practices through outreach and research initiatives, ultimately improving the quality of life for individuals and communities in Illinois.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in agriculture, agribusiness, environmental science, or a related field.
  • Experience in program development and delivery in an educational or outreach setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to facilitate partnerships and outreach efforts.
  • Ability to analyze data and prepare visualizations to communicate findings effectively.
  • Familiarity with social media management for educational purposes.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Experience with grant writing and securing funding for projects.
  • Knowledge of regenerative agriculture practices and biodiversity initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver programming on biodiversity agriculture, research, and smart agriculture practices.
  • Facilitate communication, meetings, and outreach strategies under the guidance of Extension's specialists and program leaders.
  • Collaborate with Illinois agriculture and industry partners to gather data and program information that supports sustainability and soil health practices.
  • Monitor project timelines and track successes through evaluation.
  • Conduct data analysis and prepare summaries and visualizations to demonstrate impacts.
  • Manage professional educational social media for smart agriculture projects and public awareness of soil health.
  • Complete reports and maintain records as required by the leadership team.
  • Establish professional relationships and participate in campus-based partnerships to enhance Extension programming.
  • Seek professional development opportunities to improve competency in subject matter areas.
  • Use research findings to innovate and improve existing programs.
  • Attend relevant meetings and identify funding opportunities for projects.
