About The Position

The College of Liberal Arts at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) invites applications for a one-year Visiting Associate Professor / Professor in Constitutional Law to begin Fall of 2026. This is a full-time, one-year appointment (with the possibility of a second-year extension). The successful candidate will teach undergraduates in constitutional law, theories of justice, and related areas, which form part of the Legal Studies minor and the forthcoming Interdisciplinary Degree in Law, Business, and Society. Both programs sit under the newly established Center for Constitutional Law, housed within the College. This Center works closely with the Boyd Law School in Las Vegas. The candidate will also work with the Executive Director and the Assistant Director of the Center for Constitutional Law in the implementation of the Center’s mission.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Political Science, Law, History, Philosophy, or a related discipline, or a JD
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching constitutional or public law at the college level, or an ABA law school
  • Hold a current appointment at an accredited American university and holds a Professor or Associate Professor position
  • A record of scholarly excellence in Constitutional Law, Political Science, Philosophy, or Legal Studies, among others

  • A publication record in constitutional law, legal theory, or public policy.
  • Strong communication skills to engage with faculty, administrators, and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities
