About The Position

Reporting to the Dean of the College of Arts & Sciences, the Visiting Assistant Teaching Professor of Computer Science is a full-time, temporary non-tenure track position beginning in Fall 2026, with the possibility of renewal. The Department of Computer Science at Widener University seeks candidates with strong teaching experience who aspire to create an environment of inclusive excellence where our students can thrive and achieve success in their chosen fields. Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Computer Science or closely related field.
  • Demonstrated experience teaching undergraduate students.

Nice To Haves

  • 2-3 years of teaching experience at the college or university level.
  • Experience and ability to teach Assembly Language course, Introductory and Intermediate Computer Science courses, and Introductory Mathematics courses.

Responsibilities

  • Teach lecture classes for first- and second-year Computer Science majors and non-majors.
  • Teach upper-level electives for junior and senior Computer Science majors with expertise to teach a course on Assembly Language.
  • Potential to teach introductory mathematics courses for the Mathematics Department.
  • Maintain regular weekly office hours to provide academic support and guidance to students enrolled in assigned courses.
  • Participate in weekly departmental faculty meetings focused on departmental operations and planning, faculty development, including pedagogical strategies and student support initiatives.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned or directed to support departmental needs and align with the mission of the Department of Computer Science, the College of Arts & Sciences, and the University.
