About The Position

The Department of Anthropology invites applications for a one-year, non-tenure-track position in anthropological archaeology at the Visiting Assistant Professor level effective July 1, 2026. The position is contingent on university funding. This individual will be expected to teach undergraduate courses including Introduction to Archaeology and may be assigned a course in North American archaeology or their area of expertise. Teaching load will be 3/3. Evidence of teaching excellence and commitment to the training and professional development of undergraduates are required.

Requirements

  • An earned Ph.D. in anthropology is required.
  • ABD candidates are invited to apply.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate courses.

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate courses in archaeology, including Introduction to Archaeology.
  • May be assigned a course in North American archaeology or their area of expertise.
  • Demonstrate teaching excellence and commitment to undergraduate training and professional development.
