About The Position

The E.W. Scripps School of Journalism invites applications for a visiting professional in strategic communication. This is a one-year position, with the possibility of an extension. Successful candidates will teach courses in advertising and public relations in the strategic communication track, and will also mentor undergraduate students. Specific courses the person in this position may teach include electives and requirements such as strategic social media, PR and advertising research, and PR and advertising theory. Ohio University's recent Dynamic Strategy planning process highlighted both experiential learning and new technologies as strategic areas of emphasis. As such, knowledge of AI and how it can be applied to communication and passion for working with student organizations such as A.A.F or PRSSA is a plus. Ohio University, the Scripps College of Communication, and the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism are deeply committed to providing students with meaningful, broadly defined experiential learning opportunities. The successful candidate will demonstrate a shared commitment to this educational approach and will receive institutional support in developing and leading high-impact, real-world learning experiences as part of their faculty role. The school offers state-of-the-art teaching facilities, many international opportunities, competitive salaries and benefits, and a collegial, teamwork-oriented work environment. Our undergraduate students are academically oriented; many of them come from honors programs in high school. Our graduate program includes master's and Ph.D. students.
