The Department of Atmospheric and Environmental Sciences (DAES) is based in the College of Arts and Sciences. DAES is housed in the ETEC building, UAlbany's newest state-of-the-art hub for innovation, scholarship, applied research and commercial development, a $180 million, environmentally sustainable facility with more than 40 lab spaces and over 200 full-time faculty and researchers. The College of Arts and Sciences is a diverse community of exceptional scholars working together toward the common goal of excellence in the pursuit of knowledge, both for its own sake and in service to society. Arts and Sciences is the University's largest academic unit and provides the liberal arts foundation for a UAlbany education. In our programs, students explore big ideas and timely, important problems; unleash their creativity and develop their aesthetic sensibility; investigate and analyze the natural world; and develop the flexible intellect required to be engaged local and global citizens. The Department of Atmospheric and Environmental Sciences (DAES) in the College of Arts and Sciences at the University at Albany, is seeking applicants for a Promoting Recruitment, Opportunity, Diversity, Inclusion and Growth plus (PRODiG+) Fellowship to support its diverse population of atmospheric and environmental science professionals. PRODiG+ is an initiative of SUNY System aiming to (1) increase the number and share of excellent diverse faculty committed to advancing the ideals of diversity, equity, and inclusion; and (2) strengthen the pipeline for retention and support of those faculty. This is a 12-month position that is expected to be two years in duration. Through the PRODiG+ program, SUNY expects to generate a pipeline of over 400 postdoctoral fellows to enter tenure-track faculty positions over the next 10 years. The Visiting Assistant Professor/Postdoctoral Associate's area of specialization should fall into the strengths of the department as they relate to atmospheric, climate and environmental sciences and focus on terrestrial water systems (land surface hydrology) or snow and ice (cryospheric processes).
