About The Position

The University of Central Arkansas’s Department of Film, Theatre, and Creative Writing invites applications for a one-year, nine-month Visiting Assistant Professor of Theatre, beginning August 16, 2024. The successful candidate will be a collaborative theatre artist committed to student creativity and success; be committed to diversity, belonging, inclusion, and equity initiatives; have experience teaching at the university level; and possess a terminal degree in Theatre, Music, or other related discipline. The Theatre program at UCA offers a BA in Theatre with seven full-time faculty/staff. The program operates out of two buildings with our primary performance space being a new, state-of-the-art black box theatre in the Windgate Center for Fine and Performing Arts. The production schedule includes two student showcases, two workshops, and two mainstage shows per year. Additionally, the program will operate a professional summer company, the UCA Summer Theatre, producing a family-friendly musical or play beginning in the summer of 2024. The Theatre program at the University of Central Arkansas strives to develop creators, innovators, and leaders, through the combination of storytelling, technology, and critical thinking. The Theatre program is committed to supporting and enhancing a multicultural environment that values diversity, belonging, inclusiveness, and equity.
