About The Position

The Visiting Assistant Professor position requires teaching in the BSN and potentially the DNP program for the Spring 2026 semester. Courses may be in-person, hybrid, or online. Evening and/or weekend teaching may be required. The candidate will be expected to contribute to teaching, service, and scholarship requirements as outlined in the Shepherd University Faculty Handbook. Specific teaching requirements are dependent upon departmental needs. Additional faculty responsibilities include student advisement, participation at school, college, and university meetings, chairing a school, college, or university committee, and engagement in university service at all levels.

Requirements

• BSN from a nationally accredited nursing program.
• MSN from a nationally accredited nursing program.
• PhD or DNP from a nationally accredited nursing program.
• Three (3) years of registered nursing (RN) teaching experience.
• Five (5) years of current bedside RN medical-surgical nursing experience.

Nice To Haves

• National certification in nursing specialty.
• Online/distance education teaching experience.
