About The Position

The Rollins College Department of Critical Media and Cultural Studies seeks candidates for a two-year, full-time, Visiting Assistant Professorship, beginning August 2026. PhD or MFA in Film Studies (or closely related field) is required, but ABDs with record of college-level teaching experience will be considered. Responsibilities include a 4/4 teaching load. Our department defines scholarship broadly and inclusively and coordinates programs in Critical Media & Cultural Studies, Film Studies, and Advocacy & Social Justice. Candidates will be asked to teach courses in Film Studies and in Critical Media & Cultural Studies. Ability and desire to teach media production is essential; fluency in the Adobe Creative Suite (e.g., Premiere) is preferred. Scholars of BIPOC, feminist, non-western, and/or queer film/media are also encouraged to apply. Our department and programs have long-standing connections to the Global Peace Film Festival (Rollins is a main host), the Florida Film Festival, and the Enzian independent cinema house. We would particularly value a colleague who would be excited about fostering those connections. Rollins College is a comprehensive liberal arts college located just north of Orlando, FL, a diverse metropolitan community with a thriving economic and cultural scene. The college emphasizes innovative and quality teaching in small classes and ranks number one among 121 Southern master's-level universities in the annual rankings of "America's Best Colleges," released by U.S. News & World Report.
