The German Department at Bowdoin College invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor, two-year sabbatical replacement position (with possible extension for a third year). Appointment begins July 2017, pending final administrative approval. Research specialization is open in any area of post-1750 German-language literature and culture. Candidates who allow us to expand our curriculum in new directions are preferred. A strong commitment to teaching all levels of German language, literature, and culture and evidence of success as a teacher at the college level are essential. Native or near-native fluency in German and English expected. Load: Two preparations per semester. The successful candidate will teach courses at all levels of the German language & culture sequence, upper-level seminar(s) in German, and large culture course(s) in English.
