Position Summary Guilford College seeks a strong educator with experience teaching art fundamentals and printmaking, as well as maintaining a print studio. We are a small liberal arts college with a vibrant art program offering both BA and BFA degrees. Our printmaking program is active and serves a growing number of majors and minors. Our facilities are well equipped for copper plate etching, relief, plate monotype, and screenprinting, including a darkroom and exposure unit for screenprint and photo-polymer etching. The Visiting Assistant Professor will teach a full course load (three courses per semester) and will be responsible for maintaining a safe and functional print studio, as Guilford does not employ a dedicated print technician. In addition to printmaking courses, the position includes teaching within the foundations curriculum, depending on the candidate’s strengths. Likely areas include drawing, life drawing, and 2D design. Guilford is a teaching-focused institution that values strong relationships, collaboration, and community. Faculty participate in critiques and evaluations for the senior thesis program and contribute to student exhibitions and other co-curricular learning experiences.
