About The Position

The University of North Carolina at Charlotte is seeking a Visiting Assistant Professor of Applied Medical Anthropology for a one-year position specializing in the cultural aspects of health disparities. The role involves teaching, course design, and mentoring graduate students, contributing to the joint M.A./M.P.H. program, and engaging in research within the department's areas of excellence.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Anthropology or a related field with an anthropologist as the dissertation supervisor by the time of appointment.
  • A record of scholarly publications and an active research agenda.
  • Experience teaching at the college level.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to support the joint M.A./M.P.H. program.
  • Experience in urban health, migration and diaspora studies, climate change and resilience, or socioeconomic mobility.

Responsibilities

  • Teach two courses per semester in Applied Anthropology and Medical Anthropology.
  • Mentor graduate students in their academic and research pursuits.
  • Design and present course materials effectively.
  • Grade student work and provide constructive feedback.
  • Contribute to the development of the joint M.A./M.P.H. program.
