About The Position

The Department of English at The Pennsylvania State University at University Park, Pennsylvania, invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor in Creative Writing (Poetry) to begin August 2026. Responsibilities include teaching two courses per semester to both undergraduate students and those enrolled in the Bachelors/Masters graduate program. It also includes advising theses and mentoring creative writing students. The BA/MA program offers an integrated undergraduate/graduate degree in English with a creative writing concentration in poetry and/or prose. Students complete the program in two years—their senior year and the additional MA year.

Requirements

  • Must have a terminal degree (MFA or PhD) in English, Creative Writing, or related field by the appointment date.
  • Strong record of teaching and poetry publication in prominent venues.
  • At least one book of poems in print or under contract.
