SummaryThe individual in this position will be required to fully understand the purpose and operation of the defect sorting systems along with having the ability to make decisions based on sound judgment when a situation dictates. It is imperative the person(s) conduct themselves in a manner that ensures alertness and constant awareness of the safe operation of equipment and its surroundings. The individual in this position will accomplish these tasks by utilizing a team concept through working with team members and following direction and instructions from a supervisor, facilitator or coordinator. Work relationships and communications are key ingredients to the success of the individual holding this position.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Must have successfully completed the Job Skill Evaluation to begin training in the position.
  • Must complete the Structured Job Training program within the recommended timeframe to remain in the position permanently.
  • Must be able to demonstrate the ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and calculate percentages to make proper adjustments and calibrations, as required.
  • Must be able to read, understand, and communicate in English in a manner to successfully complete job duties.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to demonstrate manual and physical dexterity.
  • Must be able to work with hazardous and corrosive chemicals in small areas.
  • Must have computer skills and knowledge to successfully complete job duties.
  • Must have good electronic and mechanical skills and aptitude.
  • Must demonstrate a willingness to successfully operate and maintain equipment within area(s) of responsibility to vision systems equipment.
  • Must be able to furnish own hand tools.

Responsibilities

  • Operates and monitors all sorting vision systems (to include ADR Sorting equipment, Whole Potato Sorters, and Optix-LDA) to achieve optimum defect efficiencies.
  • Ensures there is no injury to self or others by following safe work practices (including Standard Operating Procedures) and policies.
  • Provides skilled troubleshooting, repair and support on the vision systems and supporting equipment including, mechanical and plumbing, electrical, and electronic aspects.
  • Must be able to inspect components of the vision systems and perform the preventative maintenance procedures.
  • Ensure proper food safety sanitation and cleaning procedures of the vision systems.
  • Must be able to document, monitor, maintain, and assist with reporting of shift events.
  • Replaces and repairs belts as well as other routine maintenance on assigned equipment.
  • Installs fittings and repairs high pressure hoses, guns and any other sanitation equipment.
  • Performs and records all efficiency/waste sampling.
