Let’s Make It Real! The Virtualization Administrator must be able to meet the key criteria below: Location: Hybrid-Remote. The role will require travel, as needed to NCUA locations located in Alexandria & Sterling, VA; Phoenix & Tempe, AZ, and Austin, TX. Minimal travel is anticipated and otherwise role is able to be performed remotely. Years’ Experience: 3+ years of professional experience in virtualization administration Education: Bachelor’s degree in information technology or related field or equivalent professional experience Security Clearance: IBR is a federal contractor. Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust security clearance issued by the National Credit Union Administration. This agency handles and adjudicates the security clearance process. NOTE: United States Citizenship is required as part of the eligibility criteria to be able to obtain this type of security clearance. VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or Microsoft Certified Azure Administrator Associate certification preferred Position Overview As a Virtualization Administrator at IBR, you will play a key role in providing support in managing and maintaining the virtualized IT infrastructure to ensure its stability, performance, and security for the National Credit Union Administration program. The role involves oversight of the on-prem hardware infrastructure (e.g., servers and storage), the on-prem hypervisor environment (e.g., VMWare, vSphere), and CSP infrastructure hosted in Microsoft Azure.

Requirements

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust security clearance.
  • 3+ years of professional experience in Virtualization administration with focus on VMware, Hyper-V, and other similar technologies.
  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology or related field or equivalent professional experience.
  • Will require travel, as needed to NCUA locations which may include the below for installing and maintaining physical equipment (i.g., network firewall, server, storage, uninterruptable power supplies. Minimal travel is anticipated, and majority of support will be remote.

  • Experience managing and troubling shooting VMware vSphere environments.
  • Experience supporting virtualization infrastructure in Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience with overseeing on-prem hardware infrastructure (e.g., servers and storage), the on-prem hypervisor environment (e.g., VMWare, vSphere), and CSP infrastructure hosted in Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience overseeing the installation, configuration, and maintenance of virtual machines (VMs), virtual infrastructure, and physical infrastructure (including rack mounting and hardware configuration).
  • Experience monitoring the performance of virtual environments and optimizing resource allocation to ensure efficient operation.
  • Experience diagnosing and resolving issues related to virtualization, including VM performance, connectivity, and security.
  • Experience with the automation of infrastructure deployment and the integration of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience with the automation of IT administration and server provisioning using tools such as: Azure, Azure DevOps, Azure Automation, Azure CLI PowerShell and VMWare PowerCLI Terraform or similar IaC tools
  • Experience integrating infrastructure management tools with APIs to enable deployment of Infrastructure as Code integrated into CI/CD deployment pipelines.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain NCUA’s virtualized IT infrastructure to ensure its stability, performance, and security.
  • Administer both on-prem and cloud hosted environments, resolving virtualization-related issues, and supporting agency IT initiatives
  • The role involves oversight of the on-prem hardware infrastructure (e.g., servers and storage), the on-prem hypervisor environment (e.g., VMWare, vSphere), and CSP infrastructure hosted in Microsoft Azure.
  • Contribute to the automation of infrastructure deployment and the integration of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Providing technical support for existing and emerging virtualization technologies and assisting with planning and execution of related technology projects and initiatives.
  • Overseeing the installation, configuration, and maintenance of virtual machines (VMs), virtual infrastructure, and physical infrastructure (including rack mounting and hardware configuration).
  • Monitoring the performance of virtual environments and optimizing resource allocation to ensure efficient operation.
  • Diagnosing and resolving issues related to virtualization, including VM performance, connectivity, and security.
  • Implementing and managing backup and disaster recovery solutions for virtual environments.
  • Ensuring the security of virtual environments by applying patches, updates, and mandatory/recommended security configurations.
  • Maintaining detailed documentation of virtualization configurations, procedures, and policies.
  • Working closely with other IT teams to support virtualization needs and integrate virtual solutions with other systems.
  • Implementing and managing backup and disaster recovery solutions to ensure data integrity and availability.
