About The Position

This person will engage in the culture of the school site while providing support to the building principal and providing leadership through participation in professional learning communities, faculty meetings, instructional leadership, student supervision, and professional development opportunities.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree required
  • Must have current and valid principal’s certification prior to start date
  • 3 years of classroom teacher experience, minimum
  • Must be able to complete required training to allow for the evaluation of certified non-administrative staff
  • Evidence of commitment to regular and consistent professional growth and leadership development
  • Will be required to regularly stand, walk, and sit for extended periods
  • Must regularly lift and/or move objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds
  • May experience constant interruptions, inflexible deadlines, and changes to normal routines.
  • The ability to communicate with various groups of people is essential. This may include communication with parents, teachers, administrators, support staff, and outside agencies.
  • The ability to effectively balance time and effectiveness in an office environment, a classroom environment, and a collaborative leadership environment constitute a major portion of this job.
  • This position requires frequent night-time, weekend, and after hours responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in maintaining behavior management throughout the school (e.g., safe schools; student discipline referrals and interventions, classroom management support,, and student supervision).
  • Assist in collecting and analyzing multiple measures of student achievement for use by the principal and staff to inform decisions to improve student outcomes.
  • Assist in coordinating/supervising school activities and managing school calendar/scheduling, including field trips, assemblies, safety drills, etc.
  • Demonstrate the ability to provide instructional leadership and instructional support to individual teachers and groups of teachers.
  • Effectively manage the resources for which he/she is responsible, to include: personnel; finances; facilities; programs; and services.
  • Participate in site improvement through participation in PLC, strategic planning, and professional development.
  • Demonstrates initiative in promoting the attendance, morale, conduct, health, and safety of students and staff; assists the principal in fostering an environment that supports maximum student learning.
  • Facilitate and lead conversations between students, building and District staff, parents, and outside agencies, as appropriate.
  • Assist the principal in recruitment, selection, and retention of certified and support staff.
  • Ensure the safety and supervision of students at all times, to include awareness of emergency procedures.
  • Demonstrate the ability to consistently apply District policies, regulations, and procedures in an equitable and ethical manner.
  • Provide leadership at the building level in the absence of the principal.
  • Perform other related duties as directed by the principal.
