This position requires working on our campus; it is NOT a remote work from home position. Targeting Start date of March 30 2026.. new hires must be available all day to attend New Hire Welcome session from 8:30am-3:00pm on March 30th and there will be other days for virtual sitter training This is an EVERY weekend schedule working Saturday and Sunday from 3pm-11:30pm with every OTHER Friday evening 3p-11:30pm. Must be able to commit long term to this schedule and cannot accommodate a 2nd job that also has a weekend requirement. Provides remote video supervision from our Children's Corporate Center to assigned patients in the hospital. Acts to ensure patient safety through continual virtual surveillance and verbal redirection. Performs basic activities for which competence is demonstrated through the Virtual Sitter checklist. Experience: - 1+ years previous experience working in a hospital setting preferred - 1+ years previous experience working as a telesitter preferred - May be able to pick up shifts but this is not a full time job Job Summary Provides remote supervision to assigned patients. Acts to ensure patient safety through continual virtual surveillance and verbal redirection. Performs basic activities for which competence is demonstrated through the Virtual Sitter checklist.

Requirements

  • High School graduate or Certificate of General Educational Development (GED) or High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED) required or relevant experience
  • Familiarity with computer/keyboard
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills necessary to interact courteously and tactfully with patients, parents/families and members of the health care team.
  • Rudimentary assessment and analytical skills in order to perform basic patient observations.
  • Functional sight, hearing and speech. Ability to sit and stay alert for prolonged periods of time.

Nice To Haves

  • 1+ years previous experience working in a hospital setting preferred
  • 1+ years previous experience working as a telesitter preferred

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates understanding and proficiency in the use of telesitter software.
  • Knowledgeable and supportive of patient and institutional confidentiality and related hospital policies.
  • Capable of continuous video monitoring of up to 6 patients on one screen at one time and remaining alert at all times while on duty.
  • Ability to document on both a paper log and within the electronic health record.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients using a microphone and headset when verbal redirection is needed.
  • Efficiency in multitasking, ability to prioritize simultaneous situations.
  • Promptly communicates observations, concerns, and needs of the patient to hospital staff.
  • Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures. Age-specific information is developed further in the departmental job standards.
