About The Position

The University of South Florida is seeking a Virtual Production Artist and Instructor to join InEd Studios as a Faculty Instructor in Residence. This role involves creating assets, level design, and content delivery for virtual productions, while also teaching courses in the Animation and Digital Modeling curriculum. The position aims to enhance student engagement through innovative multimedia production and education, preparing students for careers in animation and digital arts.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Game Art, Animation, Filmmaking, or a relevant field, or a bachelor's degree with three years of related professional experience.
• Proven experience using Epic's Unreal Engine with a strong portfolio demonstrating expertise.
• Solid understanding of real-time rendering principles and optimization strategies.
• Strong artistic and design sensibilities with attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Nice To Haves

• Terminal degree (MFA) in Animation or Studio Art with significant professional experience.
• Two years of teaching experience after completion of terminal degree.
• Expertise in storyboarding, character design, 3D modeling, and motion graphics.
• Knowledge of software for 3D content creation such as Autodesk Maya, Blender, or Houdini.
• Experience collaborating on film or television productions.
• Advanced knowledge of Unreal Engine features like Niagara and Sequencer.

Responsibilities

• Create assets and design levels for virtual productions using Unreal Engine.
• Collaborate with the Virtual Production Supervisor on concept development and sequence blocking.
• Support on-set virtual production operations and optimize virtual sets for real-time rendering.
• Enhance visual quality through effective lighting setups and asset integration into Unreal Engine.
• Teach up to two courses per semester in the Animation and Digital Modeling curriculum.
• Mentor students and develop course materials aligned with industry standards.
• Conduct research and stay updated on industry developments in virtual production.
