About The Position

Location: Pembroke Pines, Florida. At Memorial, we are dedicated to improving the health, well-being and, most of all, quality of life for the people entrusted to our care. An unwavering commitment to our service vision is what makes the difference. It is the foundation of The Memorial Experience. As a Virtual Patient Observer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and injury prevention for patients at high risk for falls, elopement, and other at-risk behaviors, including disruption of treatment. This is achieved through continual visual surveillance via a remote monitoring system. Your first line of action will be to verbally redirect the patient from engaging in at-risk behavior. If warranted, you will contact the appropriate nursing staff if the patient requires direct assistance. You will be knowledgeable and supportive of patient and Memorial Healthcare System (MHS) confidentiality along with related safety policies and procedures. In this role, you will participate in the collaborative identification and reporting of patient safety issues and assure patient environment safety. You will immediately follow departmental protocol/guidelines and seek assistance from the clinical team when a patient appears to pose a threat to themselves or others. You will be responsible for timely and accurate documentation of patient activity, interactions, and communication to the clinical team according to policy, protocol, and/or standard of work in the electronic medical records. Additionally, you will provide thorough hand-off reports utilizing standardized electronic medical review for the transition of duties. You will perform continual 24/7 visual and digital 2-way audio surveillance of up to twelve (12) patients on up to three (3) monitors, communicating directly with assigned patients via observation software. Consistent communication with the clinical team based on observation feedback of patients is essential, and you will wait for a replacement prior to vacating the monitoring station for any reason to ensure constant patient observation remains intact.
