About The Position

The USARPAC Enterprise Pacific IT C5 Solutions (EPICS) program will provide IT services, strategies, designs, modernization, hardware, and software to enable exercises and operations. Agile Defense is seeking a Virtual Environment Lead that will provide technical leadership and management for all virtualized environments, encompassing Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI), server virtualization, and potentially other virtualized services as required. This role ensures secure, reliable, and optimized virtualized solutions supporting mission-critical operations. A significant portion of this role will focus on the detailed management of VDI systems.

Requirements

  • Relevant Certifications in VDI and virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware Certified Professional - Desktop and Mobility, Citrix Certified Professional - Virtualization, Nutanix Certified Professional, Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator, or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated 'Advanced Technical Expertise' or certification in accordance with DoD 8140.03
  • Minimum of 4-6 years of experience in VDI administration and management, with specific expertise in virtual systems (e.g. Citrix Virtual Apps, virtual desktops, cross domain solutions / access solutions, VDI).
  • Expertise in at least one major VDI platform (e.g., VMware Horizon, Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, or Azure Virtual Desktop)
  • Strong understanding of virtualization technologies (e.g. hypervisors like VMware ESXi or Hyper-V).
  • Proficiency in networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, SSL/TLS), storage solutions (SAN, NAS), and security policies relevant to VDI environments.
  • Experience with scripting and automation tools (e.g., PowerShell, Python, or Bash) for VDI management.
  • Demonstrated ability to monitor VDI performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimize the environment for a smooth user experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership and management for all virtualized environments, encompassing Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI), server virtualization, and potentially other virtualized services as required.
  • Ensures secure, reliable, and optimized virtualized solutions supporting mission-critical operations.
  • Detailed management of VDI systems.
  • Leadership and Management: Lead a team of technical specialists through all phases of the program, ensuring successful integration and execution of all program segments and services.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as the primary liaison with program sponsors, customers, and other stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and alignment with program objectives.
  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve program goals, including the introduction of emerging technologies and forward-looking strategies.
  • Performance Monitoring: Establish policies and procedures for achieving the standards required for contract performance and monitor progress to ensure conformity to prescribed standards.
  • Resource Management: Assign, schedule, direct, and control work effort of technical and functional specialists, ensuring efficient use of resources and adherence to budget constraints.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks to program success, including technical, financial, and operational risks.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure the quality and accuracy of all deliverables, including technical documentation, reports, and correspondence.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for program growth and improvement, and implement changes to enhance program performance and customer satisfaction.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with all contractual, regulatory, and security requirements, including cybersecurity standards and policies.
