How you make a difference The Virtual Emergency Care Nurse Practitioner delivers acute medical care to patients via telemedicine, coordinating with facility staff and physicians. They evaluate emergency complaints, recommend treatment, and determine when offsite emergency transfer is necessary. The NP documents assessments in the EMR, ensures HIPAA compliance, and participates in quality initiatives. This role also includes psychiatric stability assessments and remote cross-coverage. The practitioner supports safe, timely care in correctional environments.

Requirements

  • Completion of a master’s program in nursing (NPs)
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ Emergency Department experience working as a NP or completion of a one (1) year Emergency Medicine Fellowship required
  • Unrestricted current license, certification, or registration in EACH state of practice
  • Must maintain all certifications, educational requirements, licensing, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate patients via telemedicine and provide emergency care recommendations
  • Coordinate with physicians and facility staff on patient care and escalation decisions
  • Document encounters in the EMR using S.O.A.P. format and maintain HIPAA compliance
  • Participate in quality review activities and provide cross-coverage as needed
  • Assess psychiatric and medical stability for offsite emergency transfers
