About The Position

The Virtual Assembly Lead is responsible for coordinating and executing virtual assembly simulations and virtual builds that analyze automotive assembly processes to assist in scroll development, reduce risk, improve safety, and optimize efficiency before physical production begins. Key responsibilities include conducting realistic virtual assembly trials and virtual design reviews (VDRs) by validating workstation processes, and tooling kinematics through use of Siemens Process Simulate, motion capture, and virtual reality tools to simulate operators of varying anthropometric percentiles and evaluate reach, vision, and clearance for consistent job performance across the workforce. This role also supports the methodology of Sequence BOM across vehicle programs, ensuring accurate sequence representation for cross discipline use within virtual environments.  This position requires close collaboration with program specialists and engineers across disciplines—including industrial engineering, product engineering, feasibility, logistics, workplace integration (WPI), tooling, and ergonomics/safety—and incorporates operator feedback to visualize and validate future operations and product builds, enabling planning teams to make informed decisions early when changes are cost effective. The candidate is expected to identify and resolve issues related to human factors, workstation design, and tooling design by applying ergonomics, industrial engineering principles, and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) guidelines.  The role also involves utilizing Siemens Teamcenter PLM to access manufacturing and product design data, championing data driven decisions, and documenting and tracking simulation studies. This includes clearly communicating virtual build and VDR outcomes to cross functional stakeholders, highlighting feasibility concerns, ergonomic risks, and tooling integration challenges identified during simulation studies. The position will require the ability to mentor and train others in virtual assembly methods, as well as contribute to the continuous improvement of simulation capabilities through innovation and technology adoption. Travel may be required.
