The Virology Lab Technician plays a crucial role in maintaining laboratory operations by managing testing reagents and supplies, assisting in laboratory testing, and performing basic laboratory techniques. This position emphasizes adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and regulatory requirements while ensuring the accuracy of documentation and test results. The technician will also engage in troubleshooting, problem-solving, and continuous improvement projects, contributing to the overall efficiency and safety of laboratory processes.

  • Maintain testing reagents and supplies.
  • Assist and perform assigned laboratory testing.
  • Understand and perform basic laboratory techniques and procedures as per training and SOPs.
  • Apply current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) to assigned work.
  • Review documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • Compile and report laboratory test results.
  • Assist in laboratory investigations.
  • Alert supervisory personnel of known or suspected quality problems.
  • Initiate maintenance work orders when needed.
  • Contribute and participate in continuous improvement projects (CIP).
  • Understand company policies and procedures, including Safety, SOPs, and cGMPs.
  • Learn and comply with regulatory requirements such as USDA, FDA, and EU.
  • Demonstrate the ability to perform assigned work in a safe manner.
  • Recognize potential safety hazards.
  • Verify and validate data entry in Laboratory Information Management Systems.
  • Participate in troubleshooting and problem-solving for routine tests and processes.
  • Demonstrate technical awareness using data, good judgment, and experience.
  • Communicate effectively between departments and shifts.
  • Schedule and conduct virology assays to support manufacturing activities and product release while following GLP, QO, and SOP procedures.
  • Two years associate degree in science or one to two years relevant experience with relevant science-based college courses.
  • Understanding of basic laboratory techniques and procedures.
  • Familiarity with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).
  • Ability to review documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • Proficiency in data entry and validation in Laboratory Information Management Systems.
  • Bachelor's degree in biological sciences or chemistry.
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture and basic virology techniques.
  • Competence in using Windows-based applications.
