About The Position

The Virology Assay Scientist will support virus production, characterization, and testing activities in a fast-paced laboratory environment. This role involves handling HIV-positive materials and patient-derived samples and performing high-throughput, cell-based virology assays using automated instrumentation. The successful candidate will contribute to both routine testing and the development, optimization, and validation of novel virology and biomarker assays. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, bioengineering, or a related scientific discipline
  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in a pharmaceutical or biotech laboratory environment
  • Demonstrated experience with mammalian cell culture and immunoassays
  • Willingness and ability to work with HIV laboratory strains and patient-derived samples
  • Ability to learn and operate automated and high-throughput laboratory instrumentation
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with blood processing and PBMC isolation
  • Experience working with primary cell cultures
  • Hands-on experience with transfection techniques and flow cytometry
  • Prior operation of automated liquid handling systems or other high-throughput platforms

Responsibilities

  • Receipt, logging, and processing of patient blood samples, including isolation of PBMCs
  • Virus production and characterization, including large-scale laboratory preparations
  • Performance of ELISA- and flow cytometry–based viral analyses
  • Plasmid handling and transfection-related activities
  • High-throughput testing of compounds using cell-based HIV assays
  • Assisting with the development, validation, and execution of novel biomarker and virology assays
  • Operation and maintenance of automated laboratory equipment, as needed
  • Accurate documentation of experimental data in accordance with GMP and laboratory best practices
