About the position

EBA Engineering, Inc. is seeking an Operations Manager to expand our transportation construction management and inspection (CMI) practice in Virginia and drive growth for our certified minority-owned and SWaM business. This individual will be responsible for managing and growing our Virginia CMI operations; delivering exceptional, client-centered services; recruiting, supervising, and mentoring our talented CMI staff; and building and enhancing client relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee operational, technical, and administrative matters
  • Provide technical direction and guidance, as well as hands-on project management, as needed, to mentor staff
  • Recruit, hire, and direct staff and develop a plan to meet scheduled commitments
  • Manage the inspector trainee and certification program
  • Ensure all projects adhere to EBA's quality control program and safety standards
  • Serve as key staff for Virginia contracts
  • Expand Virginia business by exploring new markets and developing new clients
  • Develop marketing strategies/plans and lead business development initiatives and proposals that are consistent with EBA's strategic plan
  • Actively participate in professional organizations and attend conferences

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or engineering-related field from an ABET-accredited university
  • Virginia PE license
  • Network of contacts in the Virginia transportation industry
  • 10+ years of experience managing transportation construction projects for VDOT and/or Virginia municipalities
  • Intimate knowledge of VDOT Road and Bridge Specifications, Road and Bridge Standards, Construction Manual, Inspector Manual, and Manual for Uniform Traffic Control Devices
  • Strong verbal, presentation, and communication skills

  • Certified Construction Manager (CCM) certificate
