About The Position

This individual possesses the solid engineering fundamentals and understanding with some supervision in the designing of new state-of-the-art compression algorithms to improve coding efficiency over state-of-the art video codecs and drive the adoption of these algorithms while representing Qualcomm as a delegate in the video standardization forums (ISO/IEC MPEG, ITU-T VCEG, JVET). Implements these algorithms in C++, optimizes using SIMD and integrates them with video coding standards reference software such as JEM, HM or VVC Test Model. Provides a quantitative assessment of the implementation requirements/complexities in hardware and software for the proposed algorithm. Works with attorneys to file patents that protect the novel IP aspects of the proposed inventions. Participates at design reviews and project meetings. Will accept a Master's Degree (or foreign academic equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related degree field . Will also accept a Bachelor's Degree (or foreign academic equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related degree field and three (3) years of experience in a related occupation. Employer will accept any suitable combination of education, training or experience.

Requirements
