About The Position

PBS Wisconsin is seeking a creative Video Promotions Producer & Editor to join our small, talented, and versatile team. This position creates short-form videos (:15, :30, and :60 seconds) for on-air broadcast, digital, and social media platforms including YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook. The team produces videos that communicate PBS Wisconsin’s mission and vision, highlight upcoming programming, showcase community events, and support corporate sponsorship and underwriting. Projects include producing unique, engaging promos for PBS Wisconsin original series and local partnerships. This position contributes to content across all PBS Wisconsin delivery platforms, from concept development through final delivery. Responsibilities include research, planning and scheduling production locations, shooting video and recording audio, writing and editing scripts, creating 2D and 3D graphics and animations, and managing file distribution. Multiple projects will often be in progress simultaneously. A portion of each week will also focus on deadline-driven tasks such as tagging spots and creating lineup menus for broadcast. A successful candidate will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, work collaboratively with diverse teams, and maintain a flexible, open-minded approach to creative input. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to balance multiple projects under tight deadlines, independently or as part of a team are essential. The position reports to the Video Promotions Manager. This is a full-time, 40 hour a week position. This position is Ongoing/Renewable. This is a full-time position that works core business hours, Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required. This position works at Vilas Communication Hall on the UW-Madison campus with the option of working partially remote in a hybrid schedule. Some work may be performed remotely, at an off-site, non-campus work location. During the initial three-month training period, on-site work is required. Fully remote candidates will not be considered. Remote work requires an approved flexible work agreement (FWA). An FWA requires successful candidates to possess their own high-speed internet and phone to perform the work on a university provided computer. Per University policy, transportation between home and assigned work location is not payable/reimbursable and will be at the expense of the employee. This position requires the ability to sit or stand at a desk and use a computer, keyboard, and mouse for several hours at a time. The role also requires occasionally lifting and carrying supplies up to 30 lbs, as well as the ability to work outdoors in inclement weather. It is expected that employees will make individual arrangements for transportation adequate to meet position responsibilities and essential job functions. Requirements

  • 2 or more years of professional experience, including producing, script writing or storytelling.
  • 2 or more years of hands-on professional experience editing video and multi-track audio.
  • Demonstrated effective and creative use of voice-over, soundbites and music.
  • 2 or more years using Adobe Premiere and Photoshop or similar professional-grade non-linear editing software.
  • Experience creating graphic assets for video projects, including text treatment.
  • Experience working independently and as part of a collaborative team, including working with internal partners and taking direction from external clients.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to multitask, adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment, consistently meet deadlines while maintaining accuracy, and attention to detail.

Nice To Haves

  • Experienced in broadcast and digital production across platforms including social media, OTT, apps, and emerging media.
  • Experience producing, writing and editing:15, :30, :60 second promotional content, commercials and corporate sponsorship spots.
  • Hands-on experience creating motion graphics or animation with Adobe After Effects or other similar professional-grade software.
  • Hands-on experience directing on-screen talent.
  • Bachelor’s Degree Preferred; focus in Communication Arts (Film, TV or Video Production, Digital Media, or related field) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Produces, develops, and edits content that may include identifying topics, themes, guests, conducting pre-interviews and/or interviews, writing, and/or integrating content for multimedia platforms
  • Performs daily operational activities for live and pre-recorded content, and may direct the editorial and creative process of production activities
  • Collaborates with other content creators in pre- to post-production processes, prepares materials, and handles logistics for broadcast and/or digital publications
  • Maintains familiarity with studio equipment and/or applicable technology for production
  • May schedule and direct operational activities for content production, including live/recorded studio or field productions
  • Researches and develops production strategy for one or more programs across broadcast and digital platforms
