The Guardian seeks a creative video producer with a passion for news and politics to help us expand our breaking news coverage with short form videos, live feeds, news clips and explainers. This producer will be part of a global team covering the biggest news of the day across timezones and regions. The ideal candidate knows how to move quickly and decisively when news breaks. They will also set up live feeds to support the news desk and monitor those feeds to cut clips and pitch video story opportunities. Whether it’s producing newsy clips for the homepage, making compelling short-form explainers or hosted videos with reporters, they will be an integral part of our daily news operation. They will be responsible for verifying and editing quick turnaround news video clips from news agencies and user-generated content. They should have experience navigating the journalistic and ethical challenges of news video, such as verifying the authenticity of footage in breaking news scenarios. This editor will also work closely with the social team to find opportunities to build our off-site audiences on multiple platforms. This position requires at least two years experience in a newsroom environment, strong news judgement, a keen eye for detail and effective multitasking. The ability to edit quickly and creatively on Adobe Premiere is required.
